CHA is a parent-governed, independent school, knit together in prayer. Though not affiliated with a denomination or organization, we cherish our unity in Christ and praise God for His faithfulness throughout our history.
The CHA Board of Directors is elected from parent members of the Association. The number of members shall be a minimum of nine and a maximum of fifteen. The members of the Board annually elect the officers to serve as President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Other members of the Board may serve as chairs and members of various committees/commissions.
The Head of School works closely with the Board. CHA has always operated as a school built on parent volunteerism. This begins with the Board and their commitment to serve as co-laborers with the Administration. The Head of School is expected to function as an executive advisor to the Board of Directors and to be present at all meetings of the Board of Directors unless specifically excused by the Board of Directors. The Head of School is the chief administrative and educational officer of the school.
CHA's By-laws spell out the Board's primary functions:
"The affairs, business and all legal matters of the Corporation shall be managed by its Board of Directors, including responsibility for strategic planning, policy making, fund raising, budget oversight, spiritual leadership and directing the Head of School. The Board of Directors shall help set the spiritual tone for the school. Members of the Board of Directors shall individually and corporately pray for the administration, faculty, staff, parents and children of the school. They will be inclined to prayer, ever mindful of their own dependence upon God for His grace and wisdom manifest in their leadership."
The Board fulfills the ongoing responsibilities of establishing the budget, hiring the Head of School, election of Board members, and the leadership of various committees and commissions. Parents are welcome to address the Board of Directors with concerns and to volunteer to serve as Board members, or serve on committees and commissions.
Christian Heritage Academy is a unique community where students and parents use their gifts and abilities to work together for the glory of God.
